Virtual Greyhound Racing is where you can race and or breed Virtual Greyhounds. Upon registering you are given a free Greyhound for one month. You can gain an insight into the game by racing this dog and learning the aspects of race entry and types of races available. The loan dog though, is not going to be a world beater and will soon be discarded.

So, what is available after the loan dog has been used for learning the running side of the game at Virtual Greyhound Racing? Well you could try buying a dog in the auction. However most of the dogs in there are older dogs and although some are good, they will not necessarily be up to winning Cups! Cups at Virtual Greyhound Racing means prize money! You may be lucky to get a dog that is a top 75 racer, or better still, breeder. These can be useful dogs, but don't spend much on them unless you know what you are using them for.

Racing your dogs at Virtual Greyhound Racing is easy. As a new player, you could use the new player races and earn a few pence for nothing. Dependent on the age of your dogs, they may be eligible for cup races. Either way, a normal race has an entry fee of £1.83 at Virtual Greyhound Racing, with prize money dependant on the number of runners. In a full race of 6 dogs the winner would get £10 return. Dogs can run daily, though will get injured if run 4 days on the trot. Running for 3 days on the trot is also ill advised as the dog will loose a couple of lengths of speed due to not running at 100% fitness.

Breeding at Virtual Greyhound Racing enables you to get faster dogs. Each dog develops over a 9 month period by 0.03 sec per day for 6 months then 0.02 sec for 3 months. At 9 months old, it will no longer develop. Hence breeding your own or buying young dogs in the auction is often wiser!

All dogs at Virtual Greyhound Racing can breed from the age of 1 month old. It is not wise to breed bitches older than 2 months, unless they offer an improvement to your line. A bitch can only breed 3 times without suffering any adverse effect. A stud, many times. Each breeding will cause the stud to become inactive for 3 days and the bitch 14 days.

The cost of breeding is £16 plus any fees charged by the owner of the stud used. Typical values of these range from free to £50.

If you do not have a bitch to breed with, you can purchase one from the Virtual Greyhound Racingbreed pool. This will cost you £24. (£16 of which goes to the owner of the stud used). This breed pool bitch is Guaranteed to be at least equal in BP to the top stud on the stud register over your chosen distance. Only studs within 0.08 of the top stud are allowed in the pool, so dependant on timing and available studs, you could end up with one of the fastest BP bitches on the site.

Each breeding will give a pup to the owner of the breeding bitch. The pup has a 50/50 chance of being a stud or a bitch. The thing to look for in breeding at Virtual Greyhound Racing, is trying to breed faster dogs. This is done by studying the Breed Potential (BP) of the breeding parents. Each pup will be between 0.08 sec (1 Length) faster than the studs BP and the bitches BP. Hence if the stud was 15.30 and the bitch 15.32. The pup will be a random figure between 15.22 and 15.24.
